Pre-filled vape cartridges or pods are useful for consumers that want to enjoy the wide variety of cannabis oils on-the-go. They're portable, convenient, and easy to use. The only unknown: how long will a vape pod last? In our guide, we'll explain how vape pods/cartridges work and the factors that impact how long they will last.
How do vape pods or cartridges work?
Vape pods or cartridges are pre-filled with cannabis oil and are compatible with vape pens. The compatibility is determined by the brand and manufacturer. For example, PAX ERA pods work exclusively with PAX ERA pens.
Vape pens are devices that consist of a standalone battery that allows you to insert or click in the vape cartridge or pod. Once the device is turned on, either by the click of a button or upon draw, electricity flows to a heating element, which heats up the oil, typically via a wick, to create vapor.
Once the oil in the pod or cartridge is depleted, it will need to replaced with a fresh one.
How long do vape pods or cartridges last?
There is no clear-cut answer to this question. Vape pods or carts can last anywhere from days to weeks or months. It is dependent on a couple of factors, including the length of your sessions, the amount of vapor you inhale, and the temperature at which you vape.
- Length of Session: The longer your sessions, the more oil you are going to vaporize with additional puffs. Longer, more frequent sessions will deplete pods more quickly than brief, occasional ones.
- Inhale Size: The amount of oil you vaporize depends on the amount you inhale. If you pull long and deeply, you are going to use more cannabis oil than someone who takes light "sips."
- Temperature: The higher the temperature, the faster the cannabis oil vaporizes. When you increase temperature, more oil boils away.
- Capacity: Larger vape pods or cartridges will carry more oil, which in turn will last longer.
Each of these factors combine to determine how long it takes for your pod to be depleted. If you engage in lengthy sessions and take big puffs at high temperatures, odds are your vape pod or cart will deplete more quickly.
Under normal circumstances, you can expect a 0.5g pod to last between 75-150 puffs
