Giving Tuesday: Supporting Cannabis Justice with the Last Prisoner Project

2. Dezember 2025 · Pax Labs

This Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025, we’re focusing on an issue still too often overlooked: tens of thousands of people remain incarcerated or burdened by cannabis convictions, even as legalization continues to expand across the country.

Cannabis is now legal for millions, yet many are still living with the consequences of past criminalization—separated from their families, blocked from jobs or housing, or navigating the challenges of reentry with records that shouldn’t exist in the first place. That’s why PAX is donating 10% of all profits on pax.com earned today to the Last Prisoner Project (LPP), an organization working to repair these injustices through direct legal action and community support.

Why This Work Matters

While the industry and consumers benefit from legal access, the people who were most harmed by prohibition have not experienced the same progress. The Last Prisoner Project puts this into perspective:

“At Last Prisoner Project, we know the power of second chances and the strength of communities that refuse to leave anyone behind… Through our legal advocacy, reentry support, and relentless push for policy reform, we’re opening doors that were once shut and creating real pathways home.” Stephanie Shepard, Director, Last Prisoner Project

Their mission is rooted in the belief that no one should be punished for cannabis—especially not now, in a legalized landscape.

Turning Advocacy Into Impact

LPP’s Cannabis Justice Initiative (CJI) mobilizes attorneys across the country to fight for people still serving sentences or carrying records for cannabis-related offenses. Their results speak for themselves:

  • 14,196 hours of pro bono legal work
  • $9,117,021.50 in donated legal services
  • 73 firms, clinics, and solo practitioners participating
  • 363 attorneys engaged in casework
  • 216 legal filings, including clemency petitions and compassionate release motions

Each filing represents a real person—a parent, a friend, a community member—who deserves freedom and a fair chance at rebuilding.

LPP also provides critical reentry assistance, helping individuals secure essentials, navigate resources, and reestablish stability after release. Because justice doesn’t end at the moment someone walks free.

Join Us in Creating a More Just Future

Legalization must include justice—and justice must include the people still paying the price for cannabis. This Giving Tuesday, join us in supporting the Last Prisoner Project and helping ensure that no one is left behind in the cannabis industry’s progress.
